We are based in the Dunedin area but will travel to most areas including North & South Otago, Strath Taieri, Ranfurly to Lawrence, just phone and we can have a talk about working in your area.
We operate the unique and versatile Avant articulated 4WD all terrain loader, simply described as a compact size telehandler. The Avant has an array of different attachments capable of undertaking a vast range of work. At just 1.4m wide the Avant is capable of operating in very constrained environments. But unlike a Dingo, Mini Digger or Skid Steer Bobcat type machine the Avant has a very gentle footprint due to its articulated pivot steering and electric diff unlock allowing it to operate even on golf courses.

The Avant is an incredibly versatile machine and due to its size delivery is fast and efficient, everything is towed behind a ute keeping delivery costs low.
Piranha Power Rake (Harley Rake)
The Piranha is a multi purpose attachment used for levelling sites, removal of rocks, stones and debris from sites, grading gravel roads, preparing seedbeds. The Piranha makes landscaping quick and easy. The rotor turns in a counter-rotating motion, putting rock and debris between the end shields while processing the dirt through the machine, leaving a perfectly prepared seedbed. The Piranha can also be converted to a road broom ideal for cleaning carparks, driveways, worksites or anywhere that is too large to sweep by hand.
With the Piranha attachment Silver Peaks Contracting can undertake:
- Soil conditioning, pulverising & rock removal
- Seedbed Preparation - perfect for lawn beds
- Levelling & back filling - building sites, rutted paddocks
- Grading - roads, driveways, farm tracks, stock yards (inside and out)
Flail Mower
The flail mower has a drum type cylinder with sharpened hammer type flails which easily cuts through any overgrown area. Designed to cut branches up to 20-25mm thick. Ideal for clear cutting rough overgrown areas where ordinary tractor drawn mowers can't reach because the mower head is front mounted and can be extended using the telescopic boom. Whether its topping your paddock of grass, thistles, bull rushes, scrub or smaller gorse we can cut it all. The mower head can be off-set and tilted for mowing road verges. Because the Avant is stable on uneven sloping ground we can clear areas that are sometimes left to overgrow and become a bigger problem with each year.

Levelling Bar
The levelling bar can be used for levelling any area from lawns to roads. Also its ideal for spreading topsoil on new lawns or any grassed area.
Jib Boom
The jib boom is an extra 2 metre boom with hooks and an endless chain block attached to give smooth controllable lifting. Along with the Avant’s 3 metre telescopic boom, the jib boom it will give a total of 5 metres of reach and height. A small blade can also fitted to the boom for clearing areas under buildings, farm shearing sheds and yards and reaching under trees etc.
4n1 Bucket
The 4n1 bucket can be used as a conventional bucket, a dozer blade, a leveller and a grab. A multitude of different kinds of jobs can be undertaken making them a ‘must have’ for most jobs.
Larger bucket for lighter material
Ideal for transporting lighter materials like woodchips or lose soil etc. It has a straight edge for cleaning-up areas but is not designed for digging. With a capability of carrying 3/4 of a metre it can save a lot of barrow time spreading woodchips.
Rough Terrain Forklift
The Avant 745 lift capacity is 1.5 ton to a height of 3.1 metres. The forks have hydraulic tilt to keep the load level on rough terrain. The smooth operation of the transmission and hydraulics also keep the load safe from jolts which could cause the to load to become unstable and fall. Perfect for carrying heavy loads on constrained or steep construction sites - the Avant can deliver where a Hiab truck can't can't.
Log Grab
The log grab is attached to the pallet forks. The grab reaches over the load to hold the material being carried. Anything from logs, sleepers, tree branches, rocks and pipes can be carried.
Ripper
The ripper is another irreplaceable tool for groundwork. It can effortlessly remove tree roots, smaller stumps and rocks from the ground. It eliminates a huge amount of heavy manual work.
Tip Truck
Nissan Condor tip truck with 5.3 ton payload, suitable for debris removal, gravel & topsoil delivery.
